When trauma, pain, or unhappiness occurs within a family, it affects them for generations after. This therapy helps you appreciate your past and present family members to bring healing and love for all.
These sessions can be conducted in individual or group settings, but the approach is the same. In a group setting, you will draw a constellation of your family using other participants based on your thoughts. You will observe the family dynamic as your representative family members interact with one another. You can then move them around until the constellation feels right to you. Your therapist will take notes and discuss your thoughts throughout the session.
Afterward, your therapist can begin your healing process by connecting you with absent or distant family members, suggest more thoughtful manners or actions, and create supportive phrases you can use with family. In an individual setting, you will have objects like cushions symbolize your family members rather than people.
