Oftentimes, talking through our problems can help us solve them. You can discuss your thoughts and feelings with an experienced counselor to gain greater insight and understanding of your life.

In this non-judgmental and safe environment, you can openly express your thoughts and perspectives with your practitioner. At the beginning of the session, your therapist may ask you about your current feelings, goals, or problems. They will then actively listen as you talk about your life and experiences. At times, they may offer neutral answers or ask questions. As you talk through your situations and issues, you may begin to see them in a new light and find the answers in yourself.

You might also be given homework to help you reach your goals, such as eating a healthy meal 4 times a week or meeting 2 new people each week. In the following sessions, you can talk about your progress and any obstacles you faced. Your therapist will help you learn from them and keep you accountable. Your session will typically be 50 to 55 minutes and may be conducted in-person, phone, or video chat.
